By now you may know well about the delays and issues with the FAFSA – namely that the colleges and universities will not be able to evaluate your financial aid applications until March of this year. This may affect student families’ ability to evaluate the cost of attendance and the feasibility of attending a given institution.
In response, some colleges and universities have pushed back their date of commitment to enroll, usually May 1, to later dates, such as May 15 (e.g. University of California), or even June 1st (University of Washington). Check with the university where you may have acceptances for the enrollment deadlines.
UPDATED: NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) has created a directory of schools with updated enrollment deadlines for reference (see below for link). Please also check directly with any schools you are considering for enrollment as well.
