By now – you should have a number of decisions in.
If you’ve applied with a diversified college list (of varying selectivities) – you will have a number of choices! Congratulations on a job well-done!
You also may be surprised/disappointed at some college decisions that didn’t go your way. Just remember that college admissions is often unpredictable – and even a pattern of admissions trends for a certain institution can change in a year. This may include
- Increases in applicants
- Higher yields from last year (overenrollment)
- Changes in institutional priorities
These have little to do with your overall profile – and are forces beyond your control. You should also NOT see this as a referendum on your character or self-worth. Nor should you fall into the fruitless trap of comparing yourself with others – resist comparisons.
Instead – focus on
- Evaluating the offers you have for academic, cultural, and financial fit
- Visiting campuses you are keenly interested in
- Taking a DEEP breath – and tell yourself – “I’ve got this”
Any questions? I’m here to help and steer you through this!
